MAYYAAGAYEVA

MAYYAAGAYEVA is a London-based menswear designer and an alumna of the MA Menswear at the Royal College of Art.

 

Her design aesthetic encapsulates different garments in pursuit of perfect cuts and minimalistic shapes. Inspired by social taboos, her design continually evolves through the contrast of right and wrong, masculine and feminine, and digital and physical. By creating collections using digital footprints, she perceives reality through the relationship between social norms and a postmodern dystopia based on the philosophy of sustainable design.

 

We believe that the only sustainable garments are multifunctional garments that can be reused on different occasions. Therefore, every garment is created with attention to detail and is designed for emotional and physical needs. Using dead-stock and recycled clothing and materials to reaccelerate and improve designs, we aim to provide alternatives to the current fast-fashion mentality and raise the standards in the fashion industry regarding sustainability and ethical manufacturing.
